Rolls happen at the start of every round. Caught pieces go to your bench and are removed from the shared pool. A Lucky Pendant on any of your pieces raises the chance.

Each round, a chance to receive a random piece that shares a race with one of your board pieces. Pieces already on your board and pieces you already have at 3 stars are skipped. The chance starts at ~6.8%, rises after every miss and resets when you catch something.
Note: The tooltip gives no numbers. The base chance is about 7%, and it grows each round you miss.

Also, each Pandaren on your board has a 15% chance (same pity and luck multipliers) to bring a copy of itself.

(1) Pandaren: Have a chance to invite a random un-emerged chess piece of the same species with a chess piece on the board from the chess piece pool to join the team at the beginning of the round.
(2) Pandaren: Each Pandaren chess piece on board has a chance to invite a piece of the same name with it.
